ITEM TITLE: DOWNTOWN CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE APPLICANT
REVIEW/APPOINTMENT
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Work Session: The Council is asked to review the application of candidate Kerry
Barbero.
Regular Meeting: Appoint/not appoint Kerry Barbero to serve as the Historic
Commission representative on the downtown Citizen Advisory Committee.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
This appointment is necessary to fill a vacancy on the Downtown Citizen Advisory
Committee (CAC).

DISCUSSION:
Due to an expiration of another Historic Commissioner’s term limits, the Historic
Commission’s representative on the CAC is currently vacant. Recruitment for
candidates for this position is limited to the Springfield Historic Commission. At
the March Historic Commission meeting, Commissioner Barbero volunteered to
serve as the Historic Commission’s representative on the Downtown CAC. The
Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) recommended this appointment at their
June 5th, 2012 meeting.
