AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SPRINGFIELD.MUNICIPAL CODE, SECTION 7 "RENTALS ",
SECTION 7.340, "DEFINITION" AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Section 7.340 "Definition" of the Springfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"7.340 Definition
Rentals are four -plex houses, rooming houses, hotels, motels and apartments and include all buildings,
structures, and dwellings containing one or more units that are kept and maintained for sleeping or
lodging purposes and that are offered to the public for rental or hire for either steady tenants, roomers,
or transients."
Section 2: It is hereby found and determined that matters.relating to a license and license fee.
imposed upon the business of providing rental housing are matters affecting the public health, safety
and welfare of the City of Springfield and. that an emergency is hereby found and declared to exist, and
this Ordinance shall therefore take'effect immediately upon its adoption by the Council and approval by
the Mayor.
ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield by a vote of 6 for and 0
against, this 4th day of June , 2012.
APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Springfield this 4th day of June , 2012.
