I am writing in response to your phone call of last week. During our conversation
you indicated you wished to build an addition onto your home in which you would .
operate a small beauty shop. Your home is located in an area which is zoned R-l
Single Family Residential District.
I have reviewed your request with both the Springfield Building Division and with
the City Attorney's office. Both have stated they do not feel the use you have
described would qualify as a home occupation.
I am enclosing a copy of the definition of Home Occupation as contained in the
Springfield Zoning Code. I am also enclosing a Home Occupation Approval Applicati<in-,~
which you may complete. Please return it to Sally Johnson, Public Works Department
225 North 5th Street, Springfield. The completed application will be reviewed and
a written decision made by the Building Division. There is no fee.
If you have any additional questions, please contact myself or Sally Johnson in
the Building Division. Thank you for your cooperation.
