Re: Hill-Wilhelm Builders
Prescott, Sol
Attn: Marion Johnson
Gentlemen:
The nominal 5" x 15" glue lam beams spaning ll~ feet on the
middle level of buildings under conetruction on Lots 1 and 2,
SOL VISTA, have been inspected by the undersigned. The
in9pection was requested by Mr. Robert Hill, the general
contractor and representative of Hill-Wilhelm, Inc., the
owner.
Specifically checked was the effect of the hole cut from the
top of the member by the pl1llllbing contractor. While it is
agreed that this was not a proper action, it h&s been
determined that the required etructural integrity has not
been destrOTed. The b8&lll size has been carried flhrough the
ll~ foot span for appearance from the 14 foot span. The
loading direct17 above the notch is composed of a floor load
with joist l1angersbbelow the notch level and a 1IIlIoll with a
window direot17 above the notch. AlBO the top portion of
the beam is in compression, not tension.
It is therefore reoommended that the beam be accepted in its
present condition.
Respect1'ull7 submitted,
f~~~
