ORDINANCE NO. 6016 (General)
An Ordinance Repealing Appendix II-P "Public Protection
Dangerous Vegetation" of the Uniform Fire Code and Uniform
Fire Code Standards Prescribing Regulations Governing
Conditions Hazardous To Life and Property From Fire Or
Explosion And Declaring An Emergency And Establishing
Effective Date of June 17, 2002.
The Common Council having determined that financial constraints,
budget considerations and the necessity for funding other public
services make it infeasible to provide funding for enforcement of
Appendix II-P "Public Protection Dangerous Vegetation" of the
Uniform Fire Code and Uniform Fire Code Standards of the City of
Springfield.
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 - Appendix II-P "Public Protection Dangerous
Vegetation" of the Uniform Fire Code and Uniform Fire Code
Standards prescribing regulatiorts governing conditions hazardous
to life and property from fire or explosion is hereby repealed.
Section 2 - Except as set forth in this Ordinance repealing
Appendix II-P "Public Protection Dangerous Vegetation" all other

terms and conditions of the Uniform Fire Code, including those
Appendix Chapters set forth in 101.8.1 and the Uniform Fire Code
Standards published by the International Fire Code Institute
previously adopted by the Commo~ Council on the 7th day of
December 1998 shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 3 - Severability. The City of Springfield hereby
declares that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of
this Ordinance be declared for ~ny reason to be invalid, it is
the intent of the City of Springfield that it would have passed
all other portions of this Ordi~ance independent of the\
elimination herefrom of any such portions as may be declared
invalid.
Section 4 - This Ordinance being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare of
the City, an emergency therefore exists due to lack of funds for
the enforcement of Appendix II-P and the need for uniform and

consistent enforcement commencing June 1, 2002 and therefore this
Ordinance shall take effect on June 17, 2002.
Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Springfield this
~ day of June ,2002 by aivote of 4 in favor 1 against.
Approved by the Mayor of the Ci~y of Springfield this 17th day of
