I would like to add this written statement to my vertbal testimony of April 28. 2004. J was reminded after the hearing that a great many of the homes in the "licinity of the quarry do not have the traditional solid concrete foundations. Of the t243 existing dwellings, 140 of them are ma~ufactured homes. Of these, I . approximately 28 are set upon adjustable jack stands while the majority ~re resting on stacked concrete blocks shirhmed with wooden wedges for stability. To the best of my knowledge, only one 'of these homes has any sort of s~ismic bracing. . . I Accordingly, it is my feeling that the majority of the homes here are morel susceptible to seismic shock than traditional site-built dwellings with their. solid founrlRtinn.. I '
