RESOLUTION NO. 02-33
A Resolution Supporting the Grant Request of the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan
Partnership to Lane County for$170,OOO in Video Lottery Receipts for Economic
Development Purposes
WHEREAS, as part of its ongoing economic development efforts to increase the
availability of jobs and wages to local residents, the City of Springfield recognizes the
importance of assisting firms with their location, relocation and expansion in the
Springfield-Eugene metropolitan area and in Lane County generally; AND
WHEREAS, the City of Springfield wants to foster the greatest likelihood of success in
aggressively marketing to and attracting those firms suitable to Springfield and our
general area; AND
WHEREAS, the most effective marketing depends on the proper targeting, and intensity
of outreach efforts by the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Partnership's staff and
leadership; AND

WHEREAS, refocus of the Metro Partnership's activities in achieving its mission of
recruiting new firms and helping local firms expand requires not only the financial
commitments from Springfield, Eugene, Lane County and private sources, but also
successfully obtaining additional funds through the Lane County grant process for Video
Lottery Receipts.
NOW THEREFORE, based on the foregoing recitals the Common Council of the City of
Springfield resolves as follows:
The City of Springfield Endorses and Supports the Request for a $170,000
Grant by the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Partnership to Lane County
in Video Lottery Receipts for Economic Development Purposes.
This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
