Eugene, OR 97401 RE: 6708 Aaron Lane - Structural Inspection - W.O.#14517-ARC As you requested, an inspection of the bowed wall at the above address was performed on April 19, 2002. According to the builder, the wall is 2x6 construction with T-111 siding. The wall in questions is a gable end at the east end of the house. The exterior is lap siding, which has been placed over the T -111. The lap siding is bowing out almost an inch at its most extreme near the top plate of the wall. The heaving is approximately 4' in length horizontally, being most extreme near the center. A level was used on the interior to determine if any studs were out of plumb. The interior wall is not plumb, but this does not appear to account for the bowing of the lap siding. Upon further discussion with the builder, it was determined that the T -111 siding had been left out in the rain. This wetting and drying of the siding would produce heaving which would account for the bowing. Upon review of the plans and engineering, it was determined that the wall was structurally sound to resist the lateral loads designed for this wall. This determination assumes that rest of the wall Is built of T -111 siding in good condition, with the proper nailing. Thank you for this opportunity to be of service.
