Attention: Tom Marx
Regarding the replacement of an existing car port at the above address,
we have major concerns and questions:
1. We went through an exhaustive search of records in Lane
County, Springfield Planning Division, and Title Co. to determine
the boundary of our property.
2. We applied for abuilding pem1it.
3. We were requested to provide an engineered "blue print" of the
replacement car port. Which we did at a tremendous expense.
4. We were requested, as part of the application process. to provide
a plot plan and all legal information, which we did.
5, Our building permit was approved and the fees paid,
6, Our contractor was hired and the excavation was done. The
footings were set - in excess of city standm-ds.
7. A call for inspection was made. Tom Marx came out to inspect
the site and all of a sudden the rules changed.
8. After a discussion Tom had with the neighbor, A question arose
about the validity of the boundary measurements. Tom Marx shut
down the project now requesting a Plot Plan official survey.
9, We hired a surveyor. He said the property had been surveyed. He
came out and found the exsisting metal stakes. Marx came out
and states that now a written certification is required. Work is
stopped_
Now the questions and concerns that Joyce and 1 have:
1. Why were all these concerns raised after the permit was issued
and we hired a contractor. This was evaluated by the Planing staff. The
delays have caused us & our neighbors considerable inconvenience.
2. Why is there a rejection of the markers placed by the surveyor?
3. What was said by our neighbors to Tom Marx and what impact
did that conversation have on Tom's decisions in this matter.
I expect a written response within 7 working days to the questions
raised. ~
