AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SPRINGFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE, SECTION 7 "RENTALS",
SECTION 7.340, "DEFINITION" AND 7.346 "RECYCLING CONTAINERS" AND ADOPTING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Section 7.340 "Definition" of the Springfield Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"7.340 Definition
Rentals are single family houses, duplex houses, triplex houses, four pi-ex-houses, rooming houses,
hotels, motels and apartments and include all buildings, structures, and dwellings containing one or
more units that are kept and maintained for sleeping or lodging purposes and thavare offered to the
public for rental or hire for either steady tenants, roomers, or transients. "
SECTION 2: Section 7.346 "Recycling Containers" of the Springfield Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.346 Recycling Containers
Every person establishing, maintaining or operating a rental containing four or more units shall provide a
location for the placement of recycling containers, complying with the applicable requirements of the
Springfield Development Code. "
SECTION 3: Severability Clause. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or
portion of this Ordinance is, for any reason, held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of
competent jurisdiction, such portion shalt be deemed a separate, distinct and individual
provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion hereof.
ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield by a vote of 4 for and.' against, this 5thday of July , 2011.
