OREGON 97477 FIRE DEPARTMENT 223-G NORTH A STR EET 726-3737 March 9, 1981 Mr. Bob Carothers Lutes Sanetel Architects 417 North IIAII Street Springfield, OR 97477 RE: Fire Protection System for Computer Room - City Hall Complex Dear Mr. Carothers: This computer room will be protected by a Halon Automatic System with no automatic sprinkler heads below the panel ceiling. The concealed space above the ceiling panels presently has automatic sprinklers in place. Your request to eliminate the sprinkler heads in this area is justifiable in view of the value of the equipment involved, but this value also dictates that adequate protection, or early warning, be provided. I have consulted with Captain Jack Shepherd on this problem and he recommends the fo 11 owi ng: 1. That there be at least two early warning smoke detectors installed in the concealed space that will be interconnected with present building alarm system. 2. That an annunciation lite be installed outside over the door to the computer room that will indicate activation of these detectors. 3. This annunciation lite shall be labeled to indicate area of alarm function. Captain Shepherd indicates that this solution can be installed. If further information is needed, please contact me at 726-3737. Sincerely yours, /e_~/ ;/f/td:: Ri~d H.
