Subject: Courtesy Inspection at 384 Q Street, Springfield, Oregon.
Dear Mr. Bryson,
At the request of your tenant, the Community Services Division/Building Safety
conducted an inspection of the property located at the above address. The inspection
revealed items which do not meet the minimum City Housing Code requirements and
must be corrected. They consist of the following:
PLUMBING
1. Every residence in which plumbing fixtures are installed shall be connected to a
public or private sewer that is in proper working condition.
2. The kitchen faucet leaks requiring repair or replacement.
MECHANICAL
1. Freestanding or built in ranges shall have a vertical clearance above the cooking top
of not less than thirty (30) inches to unprotected combustible material.
2. The wood burning appliance was installed without obtaining the necessary permits or
inspection approvals and creates a potential hazard to the residents and struct\lfC.
ELECTRICAL
1. The electrical service equipment has been subject to excessive heat which has
rendered these items incapable of providing safe electrical power to the building. All
damaged electrical wiring shall be replaced with approved materials.
2. Improper use of extension cords was noted, which when used in place of permanent
wiring is potentially hazardous and can cause electrical shock or fire. Extension cords
shall not be run through walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows or similar openings.

J. It was evidenced that the existing electrical system cannot adequately meet the
demands for today's everyday normal usage. Additional electrical circuits should be
installed to eliminate every potential Fire and Life Safety hazards resulting from the
overloading of the existing electrical system. All new wiring shall be installed in
accordance with the current Oregon Electrical Specialty Code requirements,
including:
· -lights and receptacles throughout all habitable rooms.
· -two appliance circuits in the kitchen
· -GFI receptacles in the bath, outside and within six feet of the kitchen sink
· -adequate heating circuits

8:00-9:00 a.m., 1 :00-2:00 p.m., or 4:00-4:30 p.m. at 726-3759.
