Dear Sir:
With the assistance of the Springfield Building Division, a representative from the
Springfield Water Pollution Control Plant will be conducting grease trap inspections
throughout the City of Springfield. Section 711 of the Oregon State Plumbing Special-
ty Code (PSC) states: "...an approved type grease interceptor complying with the
provisions of this section shall be installed in the waste line leading from sink,
cafes, lunch counter, cafeterias, bars, clubs; hotel, hospital, sanitarium, factory,
or school kitchen, or other establishments where grease may be introduced into the
drainage or sewage system in quantities that can effect line stoppage or hinder sewage
treatment or private se\.'/age di sposa 1. .."
Your establishment has been inspected and it was found that in order to comply with
the above, you will need to install a inverted 4 inch 1/4 bend on the outlet to the
sewer. The sand-oil interceptors in the inside station need cleaning.
Since the build-up of grease in the lines and lift station wet wells causes a great
amount of maintenance resulting in unwarranted costs to the public, a city-wide
program to determine the adequacy and condition of these installations is being
conducted by a Springfield Water Pollution Control Plant Representative.
All necessary permits shall be obtained before work begins and all inspections
for such work shall be required by calling the City of Springfield inspection
line at 726-3769.
Your anticipated cooperation in this matter is appreciated. If you have any further
questions, please contact the Springfield Building Division at 726-3753, or Bob Canty,
Water Pollution Control Plant Foreman, at 726-3760.
Sincerely,
