Orchid lane was changed to Glacier Drive on subsequent subdivision maps, but there is no public record formalizing the change. '. A hearing before the City Council Is scheduled for July 19'" to consider a formally changing HOrchid lane" to HGlacier Drive," on the original Cascade Heights and Cascade Heights First Addition plat maps between 67'h Street and 70'" Street. The proposed street name change corrects the old subdivision maps and does not change current street names or resident addresses. Your address and street name will not change. This change will have no effect on the legal description of your property shown on your deed. This is an administrative housekeeping matter that requires a public hearing before the City Council to complete. The street name error on Glacier Drive was discovered when researching an addressing discrepancy that recently caused a delay in a 9-1-1 response to a call on S. 68'h Street. Changes to Cascade Heights and Cascade Heights First Addition subdivision will be also considered by the City Council at the July 19'h hearing. The proposed action would change 68th Place to 68th Street for the segment of 68th Street between Forsythia and Ivy Streets and for the segment of 68'h Street south of Jessica Drive. The existing street signage and postal addresses for residents is 68th Street. The old subdivision maps read 68th Place. The change will amend the old subdivision maps to conform to the existing street and postal addresses. The 9-1-1 error arose when dispatchers receiving the emergency call could not confirm the caller's 68th Street address. The dispatch records are based on the original subdivision maps which show the caller address to be on 68'h Place, instead of 68th Street. As mentioned above, correcting a street name on the original subdivision plat maps requires a public. hearing before the City Council, even though there will be no change to the existing street signage or postal address for residents on 68th Street. The change will, however, help avoid future dispatching confusion in the event someone calls for 9-1-1 assistance. The change in the old subdivision maps is prompted by an error that arose last month when 9-1-1 dispatchers received an emergency call from a 68th Street resident. Dispatchers but could not confirm the caller's street address because Springfield's 9-1-1 dispatch records are based on the original subdivision maps. Those maps showed the caller address to be on 68'h Place. instead of 68'h Street. The proposed change will help avoid such confusion in the future when someone calls for 9-1-1 assistance. While researching the 68'h Street naming issue, a street name error on Glacier Drive was discovered. On the Cascade Heights and the Cascade Heights First Addition plat maps, Glacier Drive is called "Orchid Lane." Orchid Lane was changed to Glacier Drive in the late 70's, but again, there is no record of a formal action being taken to change the name. The Council will also consider changing "Orchid Lane" to "Glacier Drive," between 67'h Street and 70th Street at the July 19'h hearing.
