RE: Gateway Mall Cabela's: Paving
Clayton,
Just as a heads-up, the existing section out there is anywhere from 2 )1," - 3" AC over 4" - 6" crushed rock, so at the very
least, I believe the Owner intends to match existing conditions. The outer ring road (Le., would be primary fire truck
access) has about 4" AC.
Thanks for the quick feedback. We really appreciate it.
Tina

Our only concern is that it will support an 80,ocio Ib load (not a continuous highway load but an occasional, rare fire
access under emergency conditions) if used for fire access (which I think most of the mall parking lot is considered). Our
standard section is 4" AC over 12" Base course but I don't have any problems with a geotech engineer saying a thinner
section is ok, and since this is private construction the emergency access requirement for weight is the only public works
concern.

Hi Tina, I'll forward this to Clayton in Engineering for his thoughts on the issue. Happy New Year!

Hi Andy,
I'm not sure if you're the one to answer this question, but if not, can you point me in the right direction? As usual, I'm
looking for a response today because everything on this project is moving super fast. :
To save money, the Owner is working with the Geotechnical Engineer to determine the leanest paving section that can
be placed without creating a bunch of future maintenance or other problems. My question is whether the City has any

say on this one. My recollection is thl private owner can do whatever they wa~ith their site, relative to paving
section, since it is their site and expense, should something go wrong in the future. Please advise.
Thank you, in advance, for a speedy response,
