Cabela's to open May 5

SPRINGFIELD - Cabela's will open its store in Springfield, the company's first store in Oregon, on May 5 at 4
p.m., a company spokesman said Friday morning. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held outside the store
prior to the opening.
Springfield General Manager Bob Fabbri has hired more than 200 employees, the majority of whom live in
Springfield and the surrounding area, Cabela's said.
. The 58,000-square-foot will anchor the west side of Gateway Mall, in the space formerly occupied by Ashley
Furniture Store. That space has been extensively remodeled, Cabela's said, and will have what the company
calls "museum-quality wildlife displays" as well as historic memorabilia.
