Permit#811-SPR2010-257 Dear Scott, Andy, Gilbert and I had a brief meeting today concerning the emergency generator. Items, addressed were as follows: 1) Outdoor storage, dispensing, spill control and containment for the diesel fuel (Class II Combustible Liquid): please meet the requirements per S.U.B. for drinking water protection and per OSSC Sections [F]414.5.5, [F]414.6 which re-direct compliance per the fire code. 2) Provide vehicle impact protection for the emergency generator per OFC Section 312. 3) Per Springfield public works division, provide an enclosure with rooffor the emergency generator. Since the structure is less than 10 feet from the anchor building, the structure and materials must be non-combustible or the structure must be protected by NFPA 13 fire sprinklers. Please provide wet-signature stamped engineering for the structure including calculations, specifications and construction details. Also, clear space must be maintained around the emergency generator to allow access for maintenance and repair. I recommend checking with both planning and public works for any additional requirements they may have. 4) The anchor building exterior wall is equivalent to at least a i-hour fire-resistance-rated wall per Robert Castile, building inspector, so fire separation from the emergency generator is provided. 5) The emergency generator is greater than 10 feet from the mall's required path of egress travel, so there are not egress issues. 6) The additional items to achieve code compliance for the emergency generator are listed below in the previous email. Please submit (2) copies architect's wet-signature stamped, plan documents for review by the City of Springfield planning, public works, fire and building safety.
