The temporary occupancy that is in place will cover the media people being on site. Thank you for clearing up what the media will be doing inside the store on the 20th. Skip, Thank you for the message. "Media Day" is nothing more than an invitation only, guided tour of the building prior to opening. The tour is given by our Communications & Public Relations Manager, John Castillo. This event is really no different than walking through the building with your group, public service groups, etc. The tour will consist of approximately 15 people from select media groups where they will have the opportunity to take a few photos and get specific information from John Castillo. It is really intended to create some "buzz" for the opening. Nothing will be sold on that day. Our official opening day for the public is May 5th However, we have a few days of soft opening prior to that in which the Certificate of Occupancy will be necessary. Monday, May 2'. will be the first day we have transactions. This night is for employees and their immediate families only. We are typically open from 5-9 pm. Tuesday night will be Contractor night and is for contractors and their immediate families. This is by invitation only. I think the City staff is invited to this. I will make sure Joel gets the invitations over to the City. Wednesday is for our Club Card members and Thursday we open to the public. I hope this clears up the questions and will allow us to keep the current schedule in place. You can contact me directly at (303)587-0788 with any specific questions. The city is requiring us to have all site work completed prior to April 20th in order for Cabela's to hold a media day. The cities understanding is that media day is comparable to opening. .' Can you shed some light on what media day is a"nd how many people will be in attendance? I was not aware of this until yesterday. I would assume that media day is by invitation only and limited to local media for a limited time preview of the stores interior. I believe that we were all onboard with the plan to slurry seal and stripe the parking field after your contractor removes his trailer and storage containers. You had requested that Howard S Wright keep this on site until 4/18/2011 in order for them to complete final work in your store. The plan that I believe we agreed to is to commence the slurry seal once their equipment is moved and have the work completed well ahead of grand opening. With this accelerated date we wouid be compelled to make some significant adjustments to our plan. We also may be at the mercy of the weather. Perhaps the city would agree to allow media day with a temporary certificate of occupancy if they were comfortable that it is a controlled event with limited attendance. Please let me know your thoughts. 2 D~te, r{eCeived;_'I~kj/ Planner; AL Thanks . . From: LIMBIRD Andrew [mailto:alimbird@springfield-or.gov] Sent: Friday, April 08, 2011 4:31 PM To: Wisniewski, Walter Cc: Kurz Troy; Sandgren, Lloyd; Bartels, Aaron J.; Witte, Mark; Brent Christiansen; CASTILE Robert Subject: RE: Gateway Mall - Cabela's Final City Inspections Walter - Since our conversation earlier I had a discussion with the Building Inspector regarding this issue and can advise as follows: The April 20th deadline for completion of site improvements is self-imposed by Cabela's and the City is still operating under the assumption that a full Certificate of Occupancy will be needed prior to formal store opening on May Sth. The current Temporary Certificate of Occupancy expires on May 3'd. City staffs understanding of what constitutes "media day" is that this event is comparable to opening the store doors to customers and therefore requires a full Certificate of Occupancy from the City's Building Inspector. Correspondingly, completion of the parking lot and driving aisle striping and signage needs to occur before a final Certificate of Occupancy can be issued, which means these improvements must be in place before the April 20th media day. The recommended landscaping repairs, parking lot drainage modifications and other minor issues observed during the April 6 site visit require attention but will not hold up issuance of occupancy. I trust this clarifies the matter and please contact me or the City's Building Inspector, Robert Castile, if you have any questions on this issue. Cc: Kurz Troy; Sandgren, Lloyd; Barte'Aaron J.; Witte, Mark; Brent Christiansen · Subject: Gateway Mall - Cabela's Final City Inspections Andy, Thank you for taking the time today to discuss the final site inspection conducted April 6, 2011 and issued April 7, 2011. As discussed, the items on the attached will be completed by the end of April. The ponding issue or Item 3 on the City list is informational and will need to be addressed by GGP at a later date. This item will not hold up the City issuance of Cabela's Certificate of Occupancy. Also, the slurr,x coat and striping or Item 2 on the City list is not required to be completed prior to Cabela's media day on April 20'. No Certificate of Occupancy is required for Cabela's media day. If you have any questions or disagree with any of the items above, please advise.
