Dear Ms. Markarian:
In the construction process of Afiya Apartments at 1082 Main Street, changes needed to be made to the
landscape plans submitted at Site Review.
First, due to egress requirements and at the request of the building plan review, the north stairs were
moved from the eastern edge of the building to the middle of the building. A sidewalk starts at the south
side of the stairs and wraps around the east of the building to the north parking area.
Additionally, there was concern about the lack of sun in the interior courtyard and the ability of the grass
to grow and survive in that location. We moved the grass lawn to the eastern part of the site, east and
south of the large concrete sidewalk area. Shade tolerant plants were planted in the interior courtyard.
On the following page, changes to the landscape and building are shown, as well as changes. to the
planting schedule and irrigation notes. The 4 V ACB shrubs that were omitted from the planting schedule
had been added after the site review submittal. The number of plants in the current plan should be the
same as at the time of the site review submittal.
