OR 97477 (541) 726-3753 FAX (541) 726-3689 Mr. Dennis Cuddeback 2683 Game Farm Road Springfield, OR 97477 Re: Property located at 2683 Game Farm Road - possible septic conflict. Dear Mr. Cuddeback: In March 1999, The City of Springfield issued you a building permit for the construction of a new garage on your property at the subject address. The City ordinarily requires the owner or applicant to demonstrate that the existing septic disposal system on a property is located an adequate distance from any new buildings that are constructed on or moved onto the site. It now appears that this requirement was overlooked during the permit approval process for your building project. Unless otherwise permitted by the Lane County Sanitarian, buildings may not be located closer than ten feet from septic drain lines nor closer than five feet from a septic tank. The Sanitarian has asked for verification that your new garage building and the existing septic field are not in conflict. Since the City has no information regarding the location of your drain field, we request that this information be provided to us at this time. If existing documentation is not available, the location of the drain field must be determined by site investigation. Please contact Mr. Jay Mathison at the Lane County Environmental Health Dept., Sanitarian's office (682-3951) to determine an appropriate method of locating the existing drain field. When the verified information is available, please provide a copy to this office for our records. Please note that the reserve drain field area normally required on a lot is not needed for your property since city sewer service is available across the street. I hope that with proper maintenance, your septic system will remain active for the foreseeable future. However, if the system does fail, State law requires that you connect to the available' sewer at that time. Presently, there is a sanitary sewer located across Game Farm Rd. It is a 24" trunk line that is buried 20'-24' deep. A private engineering project was recently started to design a shallower 8" line to extend sewer service to a future subdivision to the north. If you choose to investigate the possibility of extending that line across the street to your property, the engineering firm doing the design is Branch Engineering, Inc. They may be contacted for information at 746-0637. For additional information on future sewer . . connection, Virginia Jurasevich, in the City Public Works Dept. has done some research on your situation. She may be reached at 736-1027. If you need further information regarding this request, please contact this office at 726- 3759. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
