The Willamette Heights area is included in this situation. Fire code requirements state that a fire flow of 1,000 gallons per minute must be established for buildings less than 3600 square feet and 1,500 gallons per minute or more for buildings 3600 square feet or larger per 2004 Springfield Fire Code sections 508.1, 508.3, and Appendix B 105. CLirrently, the water supply for the summit area of Willamette Heights does not meet minimum requirements for fire fighting operations. In case there is an inquiry, the so-called "hydrant" located near the John Ash residence is actually a flush point, not a functioning fire hydrant. In order for fire flows to be met, SUB will need to build a pump station and possibly upgrade water lines or a permit applicant will have to provide alternative water sources meeting fire code and City of Springfield requirements. Finally, access requirements in the fire code will also need to be addressed. Gilbert R. Gordon Deputy Fire Marshal Springfield Fire Marshals Office ,~. Heceived: J ;J.;J./~II .
