CHARACTERISTICS
9SM101 Perm Seal is a primer/sealer that will insulate
a room by retarding the flow of moisture vapor
through the walls and ceilings. Perm Seal was
designed for interior use on wallboard and plaster.
Perm Seal has excellent sealing properties, providing
"excellent holdout as a first coat for any latex or
alkyd/oil based top-coats. When properly applied,
Perm Seal will meet the Federal Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) building requirement for
insulating coatings to have a Perm rating less than
one (1) perm.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all surface contamination by washing with an
appropriate cleaner, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Existing peeled or checked paint should be scraped
and sanded to a sound surface. Glossy surfaces
should be sanded dull. Stains from water, smoke, ink,

Drywall
Fill cracks and holes with a patching paste or spackle
and sand smooth. Joint compounds should b cured
and sanded smooth. Remove all sanding du
Plaster
Bare Plaster should be cured and hard. Text red,
soft, porous, or powdery plaster should be tr ted
with a solution of 1-pint household vinegar to allon of
water. Wear protective eyeWear, waterproof loves
and protective clothing. Repeat as required ntil the
surface is hard, rinse with clear water and all w to
dry.
Mildew
Remove before painting by washing with a s lution of
1 part household liquid bleach and 3 parts of ater.
Apply the solution and scrub the mildewed ar a.
Allow the solution to remain on the surface fo 10
minutes. Rinse thoroughly wilh water and all w the
surface to dry before painting. Wear protect; e
eyewear, waterproof gloves and protective cl thing.
Quickly wash off any ofthe mixture that com sin
contact with your skin or eyes. Do not add d tergents
or ammonia to the bleach/water solution.
APPLICATION
General
Stir thoroughly before using. Apply with brus , roller,
ainess or conventional spraying systems. In ost
cases, use at package consistency. Avoid p inting
when the temperature is below 500F (10oC),( ir,
surface and material). Do not apply to porou
substrates such as new wallboard, if the subs rate
has a moisture content greater than 15%.

APPLICATION
When the application is by spraying methods a more
uniform appearance and film build will be obt' ined if
the surface is backrolled using an appropriat
synthetic roller damped with9SM101 Perm S at

CLEANUP INFORMATION
Clean spills and spatters immediately with soap and
warm water. Clean hands and tools with soap and
warm water. After cleaning ftush spray equipment
with mineral spirits to prevent rusting of the
equipment. Follow manufacturer's safety
recommendations when using mineral spirits.
CAUTIONS
For interior use only. Protect from freezing. Product
is non-photochemically reactive. This product
contains solvents and/or other chemical ingredients.
Adequate health and safety precautions should be
observed during storage, handling, use and drying
periods. .
