Mark and Gilbert,
The new convenience store at Jacksons on Gateway is required through its OWP permit to put down a
liquid-tight floor (we did not require them to design the floor to provide secondary containment, but it is
supposed to be liquid-tight and chemical resistant). They originally proposed a coating over the concrete
and then tile over the concrete. They are concerned that the 3D-day curing time is too long and would
like to switch to the products listed below (see attached). The concrete would no longer be sealed, and
the proposed sealing product would be just on the grout, with no protection over the porcelain. My sense
is that this is inadequate, but I told them that the standard we adhere to is the fire dept standard and that
I would refer to your judgment. I don't have a sense of how permeable the porcelain tile is.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.
Thanks,
Amy

Amy, ,
Due to slow concrete curing rates this time of the year and the Devmat111 epoxy required curing time of 30 days we
would like to substitute the epoxy coating under the porcelain tile with an epoxy grout between the tiles in order to meet
our opening schedule. .
The approved system was as follows:
5" concrete slab over "moistop" moisture barrier.
Devmat111 epoxy paint over concrete slab
thin set mortar over epoxy
Dal-tile Porcelain tile and sand grout wi sealer over thin set.
The proposed substitute would be as follows:
5" concrete slab over "moistop" moisture barrier.
Laticrete 4237 Latex Thin Set
Dal-tile Porcelain tile and an epoxy Lalicrete Spectra Lock PRO Grout (requires no sealer)
Your consideration of this substitution is greatly appreciated,

(21oC). Protect from exposure to strong chemicals until fully cured;
at colder temperatures it takes longer to achieve full cure.
. Grouts for ceramic tile, pavers, brick and stone are not
replacements for waterproofing membranes. When a
waterproofing membrane is required, use a LATICRETE
Waterproofing Membrane (see Section 10 FILING SYSTEM).
. Please consult with LATICRETE Technical Services for specific
recommendations, if grout will be exposed to chemicals other
than those indicated on the chemical resistant chart.
Cautions
Consult MSDS for more safety information.
. Protect finished work from chemical exposure, dirt and traffic
until fully cured.
. Until cured, LATICRETE Spectra LOCK 2000 IG may irritate eyes
and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and or prolonged contact with
skin. In case of contact, flush thoroughly with water.

5. INSTALLATION
Surface Preparation
Before starting to grout remove spacers and debris in grout joints
and remove dust and dirt using a damp sponge. Allow to dry. Do not
leave water standing in joints. Do not clean tiles with acid cleaners.
Substrate temperature must be between 4SoF (70C) and 900F (320C).
Note: Temperature will affect working properties of LATICRETE"
Spectra LOCK" 2000 IG. Warm temperatures will speed curing and
shorten working time. Cool temperatures will slow curing and
require longer time to traffic. Store LATICRETE SpectraLOCK2000 IG
(including Part C) at 700F (2Ioe) for 24 hours prior to use.
Mixing
Pour LATICRETE SpectraLOCK2000 IG Part A and Part B into a clean
mixing pail and mix thoroughly with a drill mixer until liquids are
completely blended. Add all of the Part e powder. The mix will look
thick at the beginning. Whip it thoroughly with high speed mixer
(:>450 rpm) until uniformly blended (Minimum 2 Minutes) This will
aerate the grout to very fluffy mix.
Application
Grout may remain in the bucket while grouting. Spread the grout
with sharp, firm rubber grout float. Work the grout paste into the
joints. Insure the joint is filled and grout is not sitting on top. Remove
excess grout from the face of the tiles with the edge of the grout
float. Hold the float at 900 angle and pull it diagonally across the
joints and tile to avoid pulling out the material.
Inilial Cleaning- USE INITIAL WASH CLEANING ADDITIVE!
Once grout has been spread, wait approximately ls-minutes at
700F (2I0e) pdor to beginning initial wash. Add Initial Wash cleaning
additive to 2 gals (7.6 !? of clean water and mix until fully dissolved.
Do not mix cleaning additive with grout. Wipe grout joints and tile
surface with a white nylon pad and plenty of water (with the clean-
ing additive) using a circular motion. Drag a damp clean sponge
diagonally over the scrubbed surface to remove grout residue.
Final Cleaning- USE FINAL WASH CLEANING,ADDITIVE!
Wait at least 90 minutes at 700F (2I0C) for the final wash using the
same procedure as in the initial wash. Prepare another two gallons
of clean water and add the Final Wash cleaning additive and mix until
fully dissolved. In the final wash avoid contact with t e grout - clean
lile surface only. Date ({eCeived:41/ (0
