The City of Springfield Council met in a work session in the Jesse Maine Meeting Roorn, 225 Fifth
Street, Springfield, ,Oregon, on. Monday, Mardi 7, 20.1 l at 6.1.6_ p.m., with. Mayor Lundberg presiding.
ATTENDANCE
Present were Mayor Lundberg and Councilors Ralston, VanGordon, Moore, Woodrow and Pishioneri.
~ Also present were City Manager Gino Grimaldi, Assistant City Manager Jeff Towery, City Attorney.
Joe Leahy, City Recorder Amy Sowa, and members of the staff.
Councilor Wylie was absent (excused).
1. Arts Commission Applicant Review.
Librarian and Arts- Commission staff liaison Carrie Schindele-Cupples presented the stuff report on
this item. The Arts Commission had -five vacancies on its board. Five position openings were
advertised.for. three.resignations of members. Michelle.Lian, Marilee Woodrow. and. Sandra.
- Dominguez, .and two term expirations of commissioners Niles Schanz and Scott Wylie; who were
eligible to reapply. The Arts Commission received four applications. Applicants Sally LaMarche;
Niles Schanz, Riley Smith and Scott Wylie attended the February Arts Commission meeting and were
interviewed:
The Arts- Commission. believed- all. applicants-were. eligible. and qualified to. sexve. on the. commission.
- They recommended that Niles Schanz and Scott Wylie be re-appointed to terms ending December 31;
2014, Sally LaMarche be appointed to fill a term ending December 3 i. 2013, and Riley Smith be
appointed to fill a term expiring.on December 31, 201 L The Council was requested to review the Arts
Commissions' recommendations at the Work Session and to appoint four candidates at tonight's
Regular Session. ~
Council consensus was to move forward with staff's recommendation.
