The new structure would have to maintain setbacks thatare established in the Springfield Development Code (SDC). SDC Section 16.050( 4) states that accessory structures shall be setback at least 3 feet from interior side and rear lot lines. One of my duties for Springfield Planning is to review residential building pennits for compliance with SDC standards such as setbacks and coverage. There is no reason why this structure could not be replaced as long as it has at least 3-foot side and rear setbacks. I do not agree with the statement in Additional Subject Features (Addendum #2) which reads "According to the county, the barn structure could not be rebuilt if destroyed because it does not confonn to the city's setback requirements." Lane County has no jurisdiction in detennining the non-confonning status of a parcel or building inside Springfield's city limits. As stated above, the accessory structure could be rebuilt as long as it met our setback requirements; The lot is large enough to fit the replacement structure with conforming setbacks.
