MINUTES OF THE SPECIAI. REGULAR MEETING OF
THE SPRINGFIELD CITY COUNCIL HELD
MONDAY, JANUARY 24, 2011
The City of Springfield Council met in special regular session in the Council Meeting Room, 225
Fifth Street, Springfield, Oregon, on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 5:30 p.m., with Mayor
Lundberg presiding.
ATTENDANCE
Present were Mayor Lundberg and Councilors Ralston, Wylie, Moore,. Woodrow, and Pishioneri.
Also present were City Manager Gino Grimaldi, City Attorney Joe Leahy, Assistant City
Attorney Mary Bridget Smith, Administrative Specialist James Larson, and members of the staff.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Lundberg.
BUSINESS FROM THE CITY MANAGER
1. Springfield Council Members -Oaths of Office.
Due to the appointment of Christine Lundberg to the position of Mayor, the Ward 1 City Council
position was vacant. Council chose to use a recruitment process and received four applications for
the position.
On January 11, 2011, council interviewed the four candidates and, by consensus, chose Sean
VanGordon to be appointed to the Ward 1 position. According to the City Council's operating
policies and procedures, this appointment must now be ratified.
The term for this appointment expires December 31, 2012.
IT WAS MOVED BY COUNCILOR RALSTON WITH A SECOND BY COUNCILOR
PISHIONERI TO APPOINT SEAN VANGORDON TO THE WARD 1 CITY COUNCIL
POSITION WITH A TERM EXPIRING DECEMBER 31, 2012. THE MOTION PASSED
WITH A VOTE OF 5 FOR AND 0 AGAINST.
Assistant City Attorney Mary Bridget Smith administered the Oath of Office to Councilor
VanGordon for his appointment to the position of Ward 1 Councilor.
Councilor VanGordon joined the rest of the Council as the newest member of the Council.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m..
