Tax Map 17-02-31-41, Tax Lot 2000,244 39th Street
The proposed development is within Springfield's adopted Drinking Water P~otection Area. The property
overlies portions ofthe 10 - 20-year time-of-travel (TOT) zone to the Maia Well. This area is highly
susceptible to contamination from chemicals that may spill or leak onto the ~ound surface. Any
chemical spills or leaks must be cleaned up immediately and clean-up materi~ls disposed off-site and in
accordance with Lane County and DEQ requirements. In every case, care shall be taken to prevent
groundwater contamination.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION:
Chemical handling, storage, and use: Contractors/developers shall be responsible for the safe handling
and storage of chemicals, petroleum products, and fertilizers and the preventi6n of groundwater and storm
water runoff contamination. Chemicals used during construction, including pkint and cleaning
materials/wastes, must not enter the soil or be washed into the storm water sy~tem. All chemicals should
be stored in adequate secondary containment. . I .
Equipment maintenance and fueling: Precautions must be taken to prevent fluid-containing equipment
located outside from leaking, including providing a dedicated area for fueling I and maintenance of
equipment. This area should be prepared and maintained in a way that prevents spills or leaks from
migrating to the soil or storm water drainage system.
No fill materials containing hazardous materials shall be used on this site.
OPERATIONS AND STORM WATER:
The applicant will need to submit either a Drinking Water Protection Overlay District application or an
exemption request. Please contact me (541.744.3745) with any questions about the DWP permit process.
Protective measures at loading docks are essential for protecting drinking watlr. Spill kits should be
available for immediate response to fluid spills or leaks in the loading and pa~king areas.
Because storm water recharges the aquifer, SUB requests that wellhead protJtion si~s be P~:d ~t the
