'~~;~ .;f Finding: The ITE~rip Generation manual does not contain data for used car sales lots. Based on ' j data from th~ City of~~I?[/go '.s Land Developmen~ code, trip generati~n for this development would be estimated td'be/300 daily tnps per acre, which equates to 186 tnps for the 0.62-acre site. It is the Transportation Planning Engineer's opinion that trip generation from the proposed development would not exceed this value. ' In addition, assumed development may generate pedestrian and bicycle trips. According to the J "Household" survey done by LCOG in 1994, 12.6 percent of household trips are made by . bicycle or walking and 1.8 percent are by transit bus. These trips may have their origins or destinations at a variety of land uses, including this site. Pedestrian and bicycle trips create the need for sidewalks, pedestrian crossing signals, crosswalks, bicycle parking and bicycle lanes. . , Data Received: .s:1b.of Planner: AL ~ \ , . DRC2008-00025 - East & West Coast Auto May 13, 2008 Page 2 of2 . ftinding: Existing transportation facilities would be adequate to accommodate additional trips generated by the proposed development. Develonment Access and Circulation Finding: Installation of driveways on a street increases the number oftraffic conflict points. The greater number of conflict points increases the probability of traffic crashes. Effective ways to reduce the probability of traffic crashes include: reducing the number of;'qriveways, increasing distances between intersections and driveways, and establishing ade~te~sion clearance where driveways intersect streets. Each of these techniques permits a 106ger,)ess cluttered sight dis~ce for th~ motorist, reduces the number and difficulty o~islc;fi~'drivers must make, and contributes to mcreased traffic safety. ~.
