8J Equipment Company LLC - History
Why would a rock drilling and blasting company have that
name?
In 1978. founder Bob "B1" Jeremiah started the business as a provider of used
logging and construction equipment. The relationships he made gave him insight
into the need for quality and consistency in drilling and blasting operations for
small quarries and logging roads.
By the early I 980s, BJ transitioned the company from equipment sales to focus
solely on drilling and blasting operations. BJ Equipment Company was quickly
recognized as the leading drilling and blasting provider in Western Oregon, and
was well on its way to being the leading provider fo~ all ofthe Western United
States.
Completing the transition.
Drilling and blasting operations grew rapidly in the late 1980's, as the company
expanded into Alaska. Washington, and Northern California. In 1989, we
completed a one million cubic yard highway project in Mitchell, Oregon in less
than one year. The work on that project for Elting, lnc. and the Oregon
Department of Transportation helped establish the foundation (or future large-
scale projects.

Currently BJ Equipment operates 14 hydraulic rock drills in five Western States,
supplying drilling and blasting services to private developments, utilities. quarries,
mines. and highway contractors.
The company home base in Pleasant Hill, Oregon has both office and shop
facilities onsite, allowing quick dispatch to jobs in nearly any location in the
Western United States.
Key players.
The Company employees over 30 full and part time employees for its drilling,
blasting and crushing divisions, including a staff of full time office, maintenance, and
trucking personnel.
Owner Sandy Jeremiah manages office operations, and general manager Kris
Jeremiah oversees field operations, estimating, and business development. Five
licensed blasters supervise the powder crew and daily blasting activities.

We are licensed at state and federal levels to periorm blasting work in Oregon,

Crushing
OUf portable rock crushing experience spans three generations. As an additional
service to our drilling and blasting customers, we offer full-service portable
crushing operations to assist quarry operators. Quality people, top-at-the line
equipment, and ongoing safety training ensure that our operations run efficiently,
consistently, and safely.
