Of! .'J;'.177 (503) 72D.3753 CERTIFIED LETTER June'8, 1992 I am writing to you in response to a request for assistance from a Springfield resident regarding a hazardous sidewalk adjoining your property at 2874 & 2876 Fiesta Court. City staff investigated the complaint and found that the sidewalk has been displaced by a cottonwood tree to the extent that it could cause a pedestrian to trip or stumble; I am sure you are as concerned as we are that this situation be corrected. You may not be aware that the Springfield City Code (copies attached) makes it the property owner's responsibility to maintain sidewalks abutting their property. Chapter II, Article 7, section 2-7-4 applies to the situation at your property. To correct this dangerous situation, I propose that you remove and replace the displaced section of sidewalk. You should also contact the City Landscaper, Greg Ferschweiler, to coordinate removal of the cottonwood tree at the same time. A sidewalk permit, which can be obtained at the Development Services Department at City Hall, is required. If the situation is not corrected in a timely manner, we will have to send you a formal enforcement notice, as required by the City Code. If you have any questions, please contact Ron Sather, Construction Inspector at 503- 726-2240. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Very truly yours, /U----12../~ Al Peroutka City Engineer Enclosure: As stated cc: Joe Leahy Craig Gibons Ron Sather Brian Conlon Bueii'lic@ngSarety Greg Ferschweiler con 4-3 ,/
