A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD EXPRESSING
SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT). IN ORDER TO HELP
THE CITIZENS OF SPRINGFIELD TO PREPARE FOR_DISASTERS BOTH MAN-MADE AND
NATURAL.
WHEREAS, the Citizen Corps a division of the Department of Homeland Security has created a
training program for the general population known as Community Emergency Response Team
(CERT);
WHEREAS, citizens of the City of Springfield have received this training;
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Springfield has identified improving public
safety as one of its goals; and
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that prepared and trained citizens can in a time of disaster
assist themselves and others in the community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Common Council of the City of Springfield hereby
resolves as follows:
Section 1: The Common Council of the City of Springfield expresses its support of a
Community Emergency Response Team.
Section 2: This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption by the Council and approval
by the Mayor.
ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield this 6th day of December, 2010, by
a vote of 5 for and o against.
APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Springfield this 6th day of December 2010.
