From April 24 throu~h April 27, 1979, tests were conducted on .
Mark One Fireplace Insert for Energy Alternatives. ' All tests
were done in accordance with the test procedure by Northwest
Laboratories, dated ~.1arch'26, 1979, \.hich I-Ias approved by I.C.6.0.
The Mark One Fireplace Insert passed all test requirements for
brand, flash and radiant fires on all ~omponents of the units,
as I.ell as passing electrical component tests and tests for impact
resistance and CO level determination, Minor revisions in the
design of the units were required for compliance to the standards
quoted above, All units are now being produced with the~e revisions.
In approved masonry construction fireplaces, the clearances to
combustibles will be as'fo110ws:
1) Clearances to either side along the fireplace front to
combustibles mounted flush on the fireplace front is
4 inches,
2) Clearances to combustibles in front of the unit at the
extended hearth level will be 6 inches.
3) Clearances from the top of the unit to combustible mantle
extending 8 inches out from the fireo1ace front will be
20 inches, '
