RE: Chan Development
Jon: It was my suggestion to place the garbage dumpster in the northwest corner of the site, which (in my opinion at
least) allows the driver to access the enclosure easier when headed westbound on Main Street. Placing it on the
northeast corner would require at least two 180' turns for access and egress. However, I was not considering possible
backing maneuvers, so I am hopeful that an acceptable solution can be found.

Wade,
I've reviewed the sample final site plan, and, as we discussed in out meeting last Friday, the main two issues I have are
the connectivity to the adjacent site and the circulation within the site.
In the Pre-Submittal meeting I deemed the application incomplete without truck turning templates. The plans have arcs
drawn, but these do not emulate the actual wheel paths and offsets from the body of a vehicle. (An example program
that produces these is AutoTurn.) I have not yet seen any turning templates, and after running some calculations on my
own, I believe the building is too large to accommodate safe and efficient vehicular movements on the site. Also, the
position of the garbage dumster will require the driver to back across two pedestrian crossings and across the driveway
entrance, which poses a safety hazard. Please have your engineer demonstrate with turning templates that he can
safely maneuver an SU30 vehicle into the site while a passenger car is exiting, and then turn the SU30 around on site and
exit safely.
Creativity may be used to meet the connectivity requirement, but I believe biggest issue will be adequate circulation.
Safety and feasibility of circulation are not clearly demonstrated by the example site plan I've reviewed. Feel free to
forward this to your engineer and he understands my concerns.
Sincerely,
/'on-
