1. ELECTRICAL GROUNDING REQUIRED IN NEW FOUNDATIONS:
On new. construction, a #4 concrete reinfo.rcing-barelectrode
at least 20' in length shall be installed horizontally at or
near the bottom, of the concret~ footing at the location of
permanent ser:vice entrance. A second bar, at least 1/2 in
diameter. shall be stubbed up a minimum of 12 inches above
the floor plate line near the service entrance panel location.
The stubbed up rod or bar shall bend horizontally and 'attach
to the reinforcing bar electrode with a minimum 12", lap.

INSPECTION OF THE GROUNDING ELECTRODE SYSTEM INSTALLATION IS
REQUIRED PRIOR TO PLACING OF CONCRETE FOR THE. FOUNDATION
2. Concrete foundation wall, exterior walls, and other vertical
concrete work exposed to weathering shall have a minimum
compressive strength of 3000 'PSI and air content of not less
than 5% or mor.e than 7%. Concret!3 "batch" trip tickets to be
made available upon request.' (Table 402.2).

3. Provide sill plate sealer at all dwelling perimeter walls in

three locations to reduce the potential for air leakage into
the floor insulation and the interior of the structure. Apply
two beads of sealer at each of the following locations:
a. . 'Between the top of the foundation wall and mud sill.
b. Between the mud sill and the floor decking:

4. Porches,' carport slabs and concre'te' steps exposed to the
weather, and garage floor slabs shall have a minimum
compJ;'essive strength of 3000 psi. Concrete "batch" trip
tickets to be made available upon request. (Table 402.2),
Garage floor or carport to slope to the main vehicle entry
door. (R-309.3)
5. Pony walls shall be constructed at a height that will provide
a minimum i4-inch stud height. Walls having studs less than
the required height shall be sheathed on one .side with 3/8"
plywood or equivalent material. Provide access on both sides
of the walls.
6. Provide a minimum of 6'" of clearance between finished grade
and all untreated wood materials. (INCLUDING SIDING)

7. Ground under bpilding shall be sloped to a low point, and an
underfloor drain installed to provide positive drainage from
the area under the building. (R-311. 4) .

8. 'The graae,away from foundation walls shall fall a minimum of
6" within the first 10'. When restricted by lot lines, drains
or other approved means shall be provided to ensure positive
drainage. , (R-401. 3) .
9. Provide for adequate bracing of the front garage wall and
similar wall panels by use of the ALTERNATE BRACED WALL method
or PORTAL FRAME. method shown on the attached shear panel
drawings, or by an alternate" engineered method which is
acceptable to this jurisdiction. submit proposed alternate
engineered methods to this office for approval prior to
placing foundation concrete. (R-602.9)
,10. Provide standard braced wal+ panels at the locations indicated
by "BP" on the floor plans .
Standa'rd EXTERIOR "Braced Wall" panels shall provide
standard anchor bolt and plywood nailing patterns, and
such braced panels shall extend .to the floor or roof deck
above, Standard exterior 'braced wall panels SHALL NOT BE
LESS THAN 4' IN LENGTH AND'HAVE A MAXIMUM HEIGHT-TO-WIDTH

SIDES WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, UNLESS LONGER LENGTHS ARE
SHOWN ON THE PLANS. Such braced wall panels shall be
supported on foundation walls, or by floor beams or
double floor joists directly under the braced wall.
Support blocking shall be instailed in a similar manner
. between joists and beams were braced walls are
perpendicular to the floor system. (R-602.9)
Plywood shear walls shall have all panel edges. blocked
(hoiizontally and vertically) and shall be attached along all
panel edges .to framing members with fasteners at approved'
intervals.

11. Provide net free ventilating area not less than 1 square foot
for each 150 square feet of crawl space area. One such
, ventilating opening shall be within 3' of each corner. Vents
shall be covered with minimum 1/4" and maximum 1/2" corrosion
resistant wire mesh. Provide a MINIMUM OF 12.17 Square Feet
of total vent area. (R-409.1).
