Branch Engineering Project #03-215
Project address: 1244 Delrose Drive, Sprillgtield
Contractor: Soft Tech Systems
On July 24, 2003, 12:00 P.M., I performed a site visit to the subject property.
Temperature: 80 degrees
Weather: dry, snnny
Prior to an'ival at the site I was given a copy of the geo-technical report by PSI, for Lots 9-21 of
the proposed Orchard View Subdivision, dated 1-5-98 their report # 722-75019
I discussed this report with Howard Thompson of Soft Tech Systems.
When I arrived at the site, excavation had been completed and the subsoil was exposed to the sun
for about 1/4 hour. Dcpth of excavation varied from 1-2 feet.
Substratum was observed to consist of a bar rtm, evidently from a previous fill.
A 10 yard, fully loaded dump truck with a double bed was on site (gross weight 60,000#).
I requested and witnessed a complete proof-roll of the building pad. TIle proof-roll extended
beyond the building pad approximately three feel. Wheel contact to ground was witnessed at
90-95% of the site. Displacement did not exceed 1/4" at any location. This proof-roll indicates
that the substratum will accept typical residential design loads for a one or two story structure.
Recommended Engineered fill:
I) Excavation should be at least 3 feet clear of foundation walls
2) Apply fill directly over substratum, Import 1- W'- minus or 3/4"_ minus crushed quarry rock
till. Place one lift of rock. This lift should be a minimum of 6", Do not exceed 8" in loose lifts.
If loose lifts exceed 8", compact and install separate, additional lifts.

Compaction requirement is: 91 % relative compaction, modified proctor
Contact our office for compaction testing via proof-roll, or make arrangements with any testing
service to perform testing to their satisfaction, so as to achieve the required compaction.
3) Bring engineercd fill above adjacent grade so as to maintain positive drainage away from
engineered fill.
4) Drainage: provide perimeter drainage whi.ch is led to the storm water system, A recommended
solUtiOll is a 4" PVC drainpipe whi.ch is surrounded with a minimum 12" radius of drain rock and
is wrapped with a geo-textile. Drainage should be located at the lowest elevation of the footings
S)Roof rain leaders must be installed and maintained so as to prevent roof storm water from
migrating into the engineered fill.

A 10 yard, fully loaded dump truck with a single bed was on site.
6" of 3/4" - 0 well graded crushed rock was placed over the building pad and extended three feet
