I've been up all night doing Pointe work - think I'll get some sleep. If I'm dead to the world and email would be great. The tree in question looked like it was pretty much dead - probably from being sandwiched in by some larger fir trees. We'll do wahtever you say. Thanks, John From: alimbird@cLspringfield.or.us To: johncmullen@msn.com Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2010 08:09:40 -0700 Subject: RE: Harlow Road tree. . . Thanks John, I'll try to make it out there later today and let you know the best solution to ensure another tree felling permit isn't required. Removal of a single hazard tree shouldn't be a big issue. He explained how we could prune the one pine tree that had a large chunk come out of it. We looked at some others and he agreed that one should probably come out, but that it was your call. We tied a blue ribbon around it. It would be the second tree down from the east entrance. If you get a chance to look at it - that would be great. We are looking at doing the pruning and clean-up work this Wednesday. Thanks again for your help. Hi John, I will forward your concerns to Greg Ferschweiler with Public Works Maintenance since he would be the primary contact for street tree removal/cleanup. Since he has a background in tree care, Greg might be the best staff person to advise you on pruning the pine trees along Harlow Road. If you don't hear from him in the next day or two, he can be reached at 541-726-3613. . /}..I !JlJlO Datel Reeelved:_!/.; I Planner: AL 1 , If the recommended course of action is removal of one or more pine trees, please let me know and we can discuss a tree replacement strategy that shouldn't require formal land use approvals (ie. a tree felling permit). Hi Andy, A large portion of pine tree must have fallen across the road. Sawn chunks and debris are considerable. I have no idea who did the work - whether it might have been the City or SUB. In any event perhaps you could schedule a trip out and we could take a look at what we are allowed to do to clean it up. There are als a couple of pine trees on Harlow Road that have a lot of dead wood in them. I'm interested in talking to you about what our alternatives are.
