I'll contact the Condo Association representative and arrange a time to speak with them on-site about the stressed tree. I think we could accept a removal for tree viability/safety reasons without requiring any permits. Andy From: FERSCHWEILER Greg Sent: Monday, September 20, 2010 4:51 PM To: LIMBIRD Andrew Subject: RE: Harlow Road tree. . . So I took a look and when I was out there there were a bunch of people looking at the tree. The tree was really four main stems from a single root stock. Not a good attachment. One stem failed about 6 feet up and fell into Harlow road. Not sure who did the cleanup. Their concern was they did not want to get in trouble again if they did any more cutting. I told them it was Ok to remove the remaining stem and that one other stem was now compromised and should also be removed. On another note they had me look at the newly planted cedars which looked stressed. I think they may have planted them too low so they are going to rake the dirt from around the top of the root balls and mulch them. And on one other note they showed me one other pine they thought was not doing well. They put a blue ribbon around it so next time you are out there you can take a look. It is in the middle of the fir trees. It is only two branches that still have some green on them. It is severely stressed and not growing well. I suggested that they contact you to see ifthey can remove it. I would say it is not healthy tree. It does not make up any of the street tree canopy as the trees around it have crowed it out. Hi Greg, I worked with them on a tree felling issue in the spring (unauthorized removal), but this latest issue sounds'like a tree fell overnight and was removed for traffic safety. Let me know if you need me on the scene. Thanks From: FERSCHWEILER Greg Sent: Monday, September 20, 2010 8:32 AM To: LIMBIRD Andrew Subject: RE: Harlow Road tree. . . 'Hi Andy, A large portion of pine tree must have fallen across the road. Sawn chunks and debris are considerable. I have nO idea who did the work - whether it might have been the City or SUB. In any event perhaps you could schedule a trip out and we could take a look at what we are allowed to do to clean it up. There are als a couple of pine trees On Harlow Road that have a lot of dead wood in them. I'm interested in talking to you about what our alternatives are.
