Subject: Fire Damage Inspection at 281 Deadmond Ferry Rd., Springfield, Oregon.
City Job #830193
At the request of the Springfield Fire and Life Safety Department, the
Building Safety Division recently conducted an inspection of the fire
damage at the above address. The inspection revealed damage which must be
corrected in order for the building to comply ',lith applicable City
Building Safety Codes. The following items must be repaired or replaced:
Structural
1. WindOl"s andlor doors are broken or missing creating a potential for
weather infiltration.
2. Every dwelling unit and guest room shall be provided with heating
facilities capable of maintaining a room temperature of 68 degrees F. at a
point 3 feet above the flo,or in all habitable rooms.
3. The following structur-al members were damaged to a degree ,;arranting
repair or replacement.
A. Interior bearing wall dOl"nstairs.
B. Floor structure below the bearing wall.
C. Exterior wall framing.
4. Damaged wall framing at the fireplace shall be rebuilt to provide a
m1n1mum I" clearance between all combustible materials and the masonry
chimney and firebox.
5. A portion of the ceiling and wall covering materials ';ere damaged to a
degree warranting replacement.

Mechanical
6. The central heating unit was damaged by the fire and the required duct
work is missing.
Electrical
7. The electrical service equipment and wIrIng has been subjected to
excessive heat which has rendered these items incapable of providing safe
electrical power to the building. All damaged electrical equipment and
wiring shall be replaced with approved materials.
Plumbing
8. The plumbing system shall be restored to proper operating condition. The
sanitary drain serving the upstair shower was damaged by the fire and
appears to be leaking.

Building permits must be obtained for the above items which involve
repairs or modifications to the structural, electrical, plumbing or
mechanical systems of the building and for any additions or revisions you
\iish to make to the building.
