NOTE: All building permits require inspections for the work authorized, such as but not limited to:
A. BLOCK WALL: To be made after reinforcing is in place, but before any grout is poured. This inspection is
required for each bond beam pour. There will be no approval unt11 the plumbing and electrical inspections
have been made and approved. .
B, WOOD STOVE: To be made after completion of masonrv (if applicable) and when installation is comolete.
Installation shall be in accordance with an approved nationally recognized testlng agency and the manu-
'facturer's installation instructipns.
C. MOBILE HOME: An inspection is required after the mobile home is connected to an apprpved sewer or septic
system for: setback requirements, blocking, footing 'connection, tiedow~s, skirting. and plumbing
connections.
(1) Footings and piers to comply with State foundation requirements for mobile homes or as recommended
by the manufacturer.
(2) Mobile home minimum finish floor elevation shall be certified when required by a floodplain
management letter., "
. (3) Mob'ile,home tiedowns, when required, and skirting shall be installed and ready for inspection
within at least 30 days af~er occupancy. Tiedowns and skir,ing shall be installed per enclosure,

Upon completing the construction for which a permit has been issued the permit holder shall notify the
Department by submitting the",installation record fonn. The Department, shall inspect the construction to
determine:i.f. it"complies withthe"rtiles contained in' this division: If the construction 'dQes comply \<lith
such rules. the Department shall issue a certificate of satisfactory completion to the permit holder. If the
construction does not comply with such rules, the Department shall notify the permit holder and shall require
satiSfactory completion before issuing the certif5~ate. - Fai!ure....to,meet'..th~:'requfr.em~t~ for satisfactory
completion within a reasonable time constitutes a violation of ORS 454.605 to 454.745 and this rule.

SUBJECT: WOOD BURNING APPLIANCE PERMIT APPLICATION NO. BP 1904-82
Your permit application for a wood burning appliance has expired. Each
permit issued by the building official, under the provisions of the
Building Code (Oregon State Mechanical Specialty Code) shall expire by
limitation and become null and void if the work authorized by such
permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit,
or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at
any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days. No
permit shall be extended more than once. [Sec. 303(d) OSMC]
section 305(d) OSMC states: "It shall be the duty of the person doing
the work authorized by a permit to notify the building official that
such work is ready for inspection."

In addition, section 303(c) OSMC, says: "The issuance of a permit or
approval of plans, specifications and computations shall not be
construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any
of the provisions of this code or of other ordinance of the
juriSdiction."
Recently, an agreement was made between Lane County and the cities of
Eugene and Springfield resulting in the creation of an 'Urban
Transition Area' where the respective city codes apply as well as the
State of Oregon Building Code. Since the cities and Lane County utilize
the same State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code, the section
references listed above apply in all jurisdictions.
If your address is within a city Urban Transition Area or within the
city limits, you must make application for any anticipated permit
activity for a wood burning appliance (or other activity) with your
city 'building department'.
