On September 10, 1980, it was discovered by a representative of the Springfield
Building Division that your firm was performing' a reroofing job of a commercial
structure, the Bi-Mart Store, located at .1512 Mohawk Blvd., Springfield, Oregon.
In accordance with Sections 301(a) and (b), and 305(a) and (b) of the State of
Oregon Structural Specialty and Fire and Life Safety Code, permits for repair
of commercial roofing and inspections of the work performed are required. No
building permit was secured from this office for the work to be accomplished at
1521 Mohawk Blvd. In addition, no inspections of the work required to be con~
ducted by this office were requested hy your firm.
You were contacted by this office by telephone on September 10, 1980 and several
times subsequently advising you of the required permit and permit fee of $91.52.
To date, we've received no communication from you concerning this matter. If
payment is not received by ten (10) days from the date of this letter (November
4, 1980), the matter will be referred to the office of the City Attorney to se-
cure compliance through legal recourse which may include court proceedings. Your
anticipated cooperation is appreciated.
In any case, your negligence in securing the required permit and requesting in-
spections of the work performed will be reported to the State of Oregon Builders'
Board with a reconunendation for investigation of this matter.
Please direct all inquiries to the Springfield Building Division at 726-3753.

Dear Mr. Westover:
I'm writing with regard to the attached letter from this office to Messers
Dick and Mick ~laher of the Acme Roofing Company in Eugene, Oregon State
License #2605. The Acme Roofing Company reroofed a commercial structure
not only neglecting to obtain the necessary permit but to request the re-
quired inspections as well.
After notification of the violation, the roofing company continued to ig-
nore the permit/inspection requirement.
This ofxice now requests that your board, as the licensing body for Oregon
Contractors, investigate Acme Roofing's negligence in meeting these require-
ments. We will be happy to supply any additional information that may be
needed by the Board in order to expedite the investigation. '

This office has received a copy of a letter dated October 24, 1980,
to you from Ronald B. Clark, Superintendent of Building, City of
Springfield. A copy of that letter is attached for your convenient
reference. '
1he purpose of thisletter is to emphasize the concern of this office
with your apparent flagrant disregard with the requirements of
doing business in the City of Springfield.
Please be informed that unless you comply with the requirements
of Mr. Clark's letter by November 4, 1980, this office will take
appropriate action to secure your compliance.
