RE: Booth Kelly Tank Removal
Dear Staff:
Three small tanks were recently discovered near the old carpentry shop just east of the Booth
Kelly mill. They each have 14" to 16" ofliquid. One has PS-300 heating oil, a second has a
lighter heating oil and the third has just water. All three tanks will be removed under a
contract with the City of Springfield.
The process would be:
excavate the soil off the tops of the tanks and from around them;
pump the tanks;
inject C02 gas into the tanks to inert below 10% oxygen and LEL;
apply nylon straps and remove the tanks;
