Instead, he recommended the following prior to any occupancy: 1. An explanation of who will oversee the mural project (artist, art teacher, etc.) and why they are qualified to do so 2. A substantiation of the cost of the mural (materials, time cost, etc.) 3. Timeline for the mural project 4. Conceptual proposed design & specs (i.e. size) 5. A letter from the School District stating that the district will paint the mural within the proposed timeline in a=rdance with City policies and the DRC2008-00018 Site Plan Review Decision. He (the City Attorney) will review this info when it is received to make sure it is a satisfactory assurance that the mural will be painted. I sent an email to Carrie Schindele-Cupples, the City staff contact for the Springfield Arts Commission, about whether the District could apply to them for any kind of support, funding, or maintenance for the mural- I haven't heard back from her yet, but when I do, I will forward the info onto you. I highly recommend the District coordinate this mural project with the Arts Commission in whatever way possible. One other thing, I was told that the District should talk with David Bowlsby in Building about whether a sign permit will be needed to paint the mural. Let me know if you have any further questions.
