Re: street trees
Thank you Andy, I was by no mean suggesting you did anything wrong. Just the opposite. The chair person and
her manager are constantly Laying blame on others for their own actions. I'm glad to read; the City will
recommend using a similar evergreen tree species for replanting along Harlow Road. I wish I had Greg's
address, in public works. I would have sent a copy of my mail to him as well.

Mr. Moon: Thanks for your comments. City staff were asked if maples could be used for replanting where eight pine
trees were cut at the southwest corner of the condominium property. The City has a list of appropriate street trees for
planting on public and private property, and Red Maples are among the approved choices. There are maples planted
elsewhere along Harlow Road, and it appears the Pointe Homeowners' Association proposed to use this type of tree on
the replanting plan. This does not prevent other types of trees from being used for replanting (including pine, spruce,
fir or cedar trees, etc.), or confirm that three trees are a suitable replacement for the eight that were cut down. The
staff report and decision on the tree felling application is in the public response period right now, and should be issued
by the end of this month. I can tell you that based on the concerns expressed by residents at the Pointe Condominiums,
the City will recommend using a similar evergreen tree species for replanting along Harlow Road.
Please let me know if you have any more questions on this issue.
Sincerely,
Andy Limbird'
City of Springfield

Afternoon Andy,
Our manager told me this morning, that Greg from public works told hini the three Red Maple would be the
best choice of trees to replace the ones cut down. Our manager further stated you agreed. The three Maples
were a great choice.
Has the decision been prejudged? We hope you will conceder the owners input for a denser screening than just
those three little trees.
Thanks
Brent
