ELECTRICAL GROUNDING REQUIRED IN NEW FOUNDATIONS: On new construction, a #4 concrete reinforcing-bar electrode at least 20' in length shall be installed horizontally and centered in a minimum 5-1/2 inch thick concrete foundation at the location of permanent service entrance. A second bar, at least 1/2 in diameter shall be stubbed up a minimum of 12-inches above the surface of the foundation near the service entrance panel location. The stUbbed up rod or bar shall bend horizontally and attach (tie) to the reinforcing bar electrode with a minimum 12" lap. An alternate electrode installation may be used in a 3-1/2 inch thick continuous concrete slab using a 20 ft. long No.4 bare copper conductor placed in a large loose coil, centered in , " ~ ~. ~. \:' " the slab. The electrode shall raise up out of the slab a minimum or 12-inches, facing the crawl space and located near the electrical main distribution panel. Note: There shall not be any vapor barrier or insulating material installed below the concrete slab footing. (MDPSC 3-8.2.1 & 2,NEC 250-82(C)). INSPECTION OF THE GROUNDING ELECTRODE SYSTEM INSTALLATION IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO PLACING OF CONCRETE FOR THE FOUNDATION 2. Porches, carport slabs and concrete steps exposed to the weather, and garage floor slabs shall have a minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi. Concrete "batch" trip tickets are to be made available upon request. (Table 402.2). Foundation concrete for manufactured homes shall have a compressive strength of2500 psi at 28 days. 3. Provide a minimum of 6" of clearance between finished grade and all untreated wood materials. (INCLUDING SIDING) (R-322.1). 4. The grade away from foundation walls shall fall a minimum of 6" within the first 10'. Drains or other approved means shall be provided to ensure positive drainage. Except when restricted by lot lines. 5. Ground under building shall be sloped to a low point, and an under floor drain installed to provide positive drainage from the area under the building. (OTFDC 311.4). 6. Provide 6 mil black polyethylene ground cover, lapped 12" at joints and 12" up stem walls. Note: Moisture barrier shall be installed above the foundation slab or piers bases. 7. Provide net free ventilating area not less than I square foot for each 150 square feet of . crawl space area. One such ventilating opening shall be within 3' of each corner. Vents shall be covered with minimum 1/4" and maximum 1/2" corrosion resistant wire mesh. See attached Table 3-D (OMDPSC 3-10). 8. Roof storm drains shall be provided to capture roof drainage. Storm drainage shall be piped to an approved drainage way. Drain lines within five feet of buildings shall consist of a material approved for use within buildings, such as ABS/DWV or PVC/DWV. Perforated drain lines used for sub surface drainage need not comply with this requirement. (b) Using this table, go to the intersecting column and row corresponding with the length and width of the manufactured dwelling section and repeat for each section. . (c) Write down the total square inches of net free area ofvenlilation required for each section and add to find out the' total amount of required ventilation for the entire manufactured dwelling. (d) To determine the number of vents needed, divide the total amount of net free area of ventilation required for the manufactured dwelling by the vent capacity of the individual vents.
