Mission Statement
The Child Center is a family based agency. Family involvement, as
equal partners, is the very foundation of all treatment services we .
provide. Our experience of serving children since 1971 has shown us
that treatment is more effective when the entirl? family is involved in
learning more about the problems they are facing and are a part of
finding solutions based on the strengths of their family. Families in all of
our programs participate in family therapy. Parent training/education groups are also available. Parents are involved in determining wt
are priorities for them in family therapy and in their child's treatment plan.
The primary treatment modality for all of the treatment programs at The Child Center is based on the Family System's Model which ha
with the agency. We have successful.ly incorporated Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Structural, Strategic, Contextual, Rational Emoti
and. Behavioral child and parent interventions in a Brief therapy model.

The Child Center Capital Campaigns & Development Projects
The Child Center Board of Directors is currently
engaged in an exciting project at this time.
The Child Center Board is raising funds to build
a beautiful 5177 square foot Outpatient and
Assessment office building on our Springfield
campus.
The vision of a campus that offers an array of
Mental Health services to children of Lane
County has slowly been realized through The
Child Center responding to the needs of our
community.
Initially our Outpatient Program offered
counseling services to children experiencing
mild to severe mental health and emotional
disorders in 1978.

. Mental Health Assessment - this component to detennine a child's level of risk for safety to others and self, level of intervention needed and
mental health diagnosis. This is a valuable resource to school districts, Department of Human Services and our clients. We have Psychologists
on staff who provide this service.
. Resource Library - with over 6000 media resources with a large focus on children's mental health, which is open to client and public use.
. Crisis Intervention - The Child Center has teamed up with two other agencies, Looking Glass and Jasper Mountain, to provide 2417 child and
youth mental health crisis intervention covering all of Lane County. Staff provide phone consultation and, if needed, go out to wherever the crisis
event is occurring to help resolve the situation.
. Parent Education Classes - Three levels of training are available, all based on the evidenced-based Collaborative Problem Solving Model. Five
week session are provided throughout the year. This is a family-based training, with children attending activities on campus while parents are in
session. They all take a break to have dinner together in the cafeteria.
With each programmatic addition, more staff were hired, existing buildings on campus were added on to and remodeled, and the property next door was
purchased. We have now reached critical mass! We have run out of office space! The solution is to build an office building that will accommodate these
programs and give us room to continue to grow to meet the mental health needs of the children of Lane County.
To date, with the generosity of many in our community, about 40% of the $1,400,000 capital project has been raised.
