This letter is to confmn that we acknowledge that our living area at 920 Shelley St. is in violation of city code and that we have voluntarily agreed to vacate on or before March 1,2010. We have appreciated your willingness to work with us on this issue. My husbands health is extremely poor. He suffered a stroke in mid December, has severe COPD and requires oxygen, and then the fall that brought us to your attention. He has a fractured skull and fractured right hip and is not mobile at this time. I would like to address a couple of the issues that have been brought up since last week. There was a claim that it was difficult for the EMT's to get my husband out of here the morning of the fall... " therefore creating a safety issue. That simply is not true. I was here, they had no ,difficulty at all. They were instead fascinated that there was a home constructed inside a warehouse. It has been mentioned that we have no smoke detectors... ... not true, there are four within a 1500 sq. foot area. There are also fire extinguishers at every exit. My husband has lived here for over 20 years. During this time he had regular visits from the fire department. When we got married, we spent $30,000 to make, the space livable for our family on a temporary basis as we had no reason to believe it was a problem. This situation has caused an extreme hardship for us as my husband has now lost his job because of his medical issues. We aren't sure where we will go with a 12 year old child. Not your problem, and we will comply with your request. ' ~ Sincerely, ~~ W) ~~ L{~ ~artAfamaW Larry & Tanya Malos ,. , " '-, ~ IJ ~ ~ ~: "; '. ~'\I (i" "u.. ~~~~.t~;,,: '-' 0'-' u,_, U r . ~, '.
