"Preliminary reinforcing steel inspection was performed byou'r office on 12-16-09 (ref: FEI'report E-24787). Observed the placement of 30.75 yards of Knife River 4000 psi concrete (mix 240NE5200) into areas noted above. Concrete was placed by pump and was mechanically consolidated. Cast one (1) set of five (5) 4" x 8" concrete test cylinders from load 1. Slump - 41/2"; air temperature - 35F; concrete temperature - 51 F. Also, observed the installation,of two (2) #7and three,(3) #5 horizontal dowels into existing footing for new footirig-'connection near 2A12.3. Prior to instaliation, the predrilled holes were cleaned with "ii-brush and compressed air Verified minimum embedment depth of 7" for #7 dowels' and 5" for #5 dowels. Dowels were secured with Hilti Hit RE 500SD epoxy adhesive '(ICC - ESR 2322/ expiration date 09/2010). To the best of our knowledge, the work inspected was in accordance with plans dated 09-30-09 and applicable workmanship provisions of the I.B.C., except if noted above. Wall on line 17 had clean-outs provided. Reinforcing steel was checked for grade, size,lap, placement, quantities and clearance, 'where applicable. Reinforced cells were relatively clean and free of excessive mortar projections. Observed the placement of 3.5 yards of Knife River 7sk grout (mix 247KG3R200) into walls noted above. Grout was placed by pump and was mechanically consolidated. Walls were grouted solid. Slump - :t9"; air temperature - 62F; grout temperature - 60F. Also, observed .the installation of rebar dowels as follows: four (4) #4 x 32" horizontal dowels 'into CMU wall near 17AA at upper two (2) bond beam locations; ten (10) #4 x 4'10" dowels into concrete column near C19, two (2) at each bond beam location, Prior to installation, the predrilled holes were cleaned with a brush and compressed air Verified minimum embedment depth of 4" for bars into CMU and contractor drilled 10" into concrete column. No detail available'for connection at column. Dowels were secured with Hilti Hit Hy 150 Max epoxy (ICC - ESR 2262/ expiralion date 08/2010) at CMU connection and Hilti Hit RE 500SD epoxy (ICC ESR 23221 expiration date 09/2010) at column connection. To the best of our knowledge, the work inspected was in accordance with plans dated 09-30- 09, RFI 88R and applicable workmanship provisions of the I.B.C., except if noted above. The near vertical trench sidewalls appear relatively stable and both stratas of imported material appear dense and well compacted. Recommended trench bases be cleaned of loose andlor soft material prior to placing backfill. Materials loosened or disturbed during future work should be removed and replaced with new crushed rock fill. Also, recommended that the small "nob' of existing material currently still in-place in the northwest corner of the tank excavation area be removed to allow for a uniform and consistent backfill to be placed in the entire excavation. Observed the installation of eight (8)"3/4" x 10" Hilti KBTZwedge anchors (ICC - ESR 1917) for three (3) infill columns along line 18, between A and'B for ,new overhead and man door. Prior to installation;'th-e-predrilled holes were cleaned with compressed air. Anchors were installed andtightened'with contractor'stoique wrench set at 110 ft/lbs, and verified with FEl's certifi~d torque 'wrench. Also, observed the installation of two (2) 3/4" all-thread anchors for fuel gantry column to slab on grade connection, the west column at north island, Prior to installation, the predrilled holes were cleaned with a brush and compressed air. Verified embedment depth of 6". Anchors were secured with Hilti Hit RE 500SD epoxy adhesive (ICC - ESR 2322/ expiration date 10/2010). To the best of our knowledge, the work inspected was in accordance with plans dated 09-30-09, 'RF1114 and appiicable workmanship provisions of the I.B.C., except if noted above. Reinforcing steel was checkeif"fof"grade, size, lap, placement, quantities and clearance, where applicable. _,Reinforced cells were relatively clean and free of excessive mortar projections. Cleanouts were provided. Observed the placement of 8.5 yards of Knife River 7sk grout (mix 247KG3R200) into walls noted above. Grout was placed by 'pump and was mechanically consolidated. Walls were grouted solid. Slump - 8"+; air temperature - 45F; grout temperature - 55F. To the best of our knowledge, the work inspected was in accordance with plans dated 09-30-09, RFI 88R and applicable workmanship provisions of the LB,C., except if noted above.
