RE: Occupancy Inspection at 2787 Olympic, Space Number 13, Springfield, Oregon 97477
Dear Mr. Reingold:
At your request, the Building Division of the City of Springfield conducted an Occupancy
Inspection of the structure located at the above referenced address.
The proposed use of a portion of the structure as an automobile repair garage will
categorize that usage as an H-4 Occupancy. The following items shall be installed or
repaired before a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued:
Oreqon Structu:roZ SpeciaZty Code and Fire and Life Safety (S.S. C.)

1. Group H Occupancies having a floor area of 200 square feet or more shall be provided
with a minimum of two separate exits. Overhead doors shall not be used as required
exits. S.S.C. 3303
2. Positive ventilation shall be provided capable of exhausting a minimum of 1 cfm per
square foot for the area of the building where the automobile repair work is done.

3. Preimeter walls shall be of not less than one-hour fire-resistive construction.
S.S.C. 505
4. Unprotective ceiling insulation materials shall not exceed a flame spread rating of
25 and a smoke density rating not to exceed 450. S.S.C. 1717
5. Devices which generate a spark or glow capable of igniting gasoline or other flam-
mable vapors shall not be installed or used within 18 inches of the floor.

The above items pertain to the existing building being used exclusively for automobile
body repair. Painting of vehicles shall only be allowed if an approved spray booth
constructed in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association Standards is
provided.

1. Metal conduit shall be the wiring method in all areas. E.S.S.C. 511-5
2. Areas that may have gasoline vapors shall be wired with explosion-proof equipment.

3. The service shall be of ample capacity to serve the total electrical load and have
adequate breaker spaces to supply each required circuit. E.S.S.C. 230-74, 94
4. Oregon Administrative RuLes 22-110 requires that a licensed electrical contractor
shall perform all electrical work on properties that are for rent, sale, or lease.
