Except where blank spaces occur in the description portion of the Mechanical and Electrical Schedules, the applicant need fill-in only the No, Boxes adjacent to the appropriate item(s) to be installed B. Full Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Schedules are avatlable at the Building Division 1. To conserve space on the permit form the schedules have been abbreviated 2. If the item(s) to be installed are not covered on the abbreviated schedules you should consult the full schedules C. BUILDING DIVISION STAFF WILL FILL OUT ALL FEES AND CHARGES "ON THE SCHEOULES D. As noted on the CAP, the label must be delivered to the electrical contractor for signature by his electrical supervisor. Item No. 1 (Safety Glazinq) The ne~ entry doors to be installed in the existing storefront sash are to be supplied ~ith tempered glass. This is noted as T. GL. on the Typical Tenant Detail Dra~ing No.9 and is specified in Section 8K-2(A) of the Specifications. We have assumed that since the present ~indo~ glass in the panel adjacent to the ne~ door starts at 5-1/2" above the existing floor level and that since this ~ork ~as installed in 19BO, that the original plan check ~ould have required either tempered or safety glass be installed. Should this not be the case, ~e ~ill be sure that an oak railing is installed at 3 feet above the floor across the ~indo~s for conformance to Code. Item No.2 (Landinq at Doors) Subsequent to the preparation of Typical Tenant Detail Drawing No.9, but prior to dating and printing for submission for the Building Permit for the First Floor Ten- ant work we field measured the actual change in grade from the interior floor slab to the sidewalk at the three new door locations. We found two (2) locations (Doors 104 and 105) to have a 1-3/4" variation and one (l) location (Door 102) to have a 2" variation in grades. These dimensions are noted as "Varies 1-3/4" to 2'''' at the Detail of the Sill C/9. With the allowable 1/2" change of grade under U.B.C. Sec- tion 3304(h) this would provide a slope of 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" in 1'-3" to match the present sidewalk grades along the face of the brick columns. The alternatives were to ramp this area ~ith a "Rough Broom Finish" as noted or to replace 70 feet of existing sidewalk. If the sidewalk ~as to be replaced, the re- tention of the curb would have required a cross walk surface slope of up to 2-3/4" in the 6' width (1/2" per foot) or the raising of the present 6" curb to a 7-1/2" curb height above the paving. It ~as desired to try the ramping as shown at the new doors. Should this pose a problem or a hazard, the present sidewalk/curb grades will have to be adjusted as . ' . . Benj.
