PROJECT MEMO The Amundson Associates A PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION ARCHITECTS , PLANNERS TWO HUNDRED SOUTH MILL STREET, SPRINGFIELD, OREGON 97477 (503) 746-8231 DATE: PROJECT: NO. TO: 10 APRIL 1990 MWH - 2ND FLOOR REMODEL, BEN FRANKLIN BUILDING (CENTRAL SERVICES) LORNE PLEGER - CITY OF SPRINGFIELD DENNIS SHEW - SPRINGFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT LINN WEST - THE AMUNDSON ASSOCIATES NOTES; 1. Per Lome, existing structure is Type II, 1-hour, 2. Per Dennis, if any physical therapy occurs in this area, we won't meet 101 LifeSafety, ok as is, 3, Existing fire detection/fire supression system consists only of smoke detectors throughout. Additional detectors will be required if the space is subdivided beyond existing conditions, Contractor must submit proposed detector layout for NFPA 27E approval. Dennis recommends contacting Owner before disrupting existing system, 4, The length of the dead end office corridor in Central Services at 34' does not present an egress problem, Having an occupant load far less than 100, it does not have to be rated. S, Tenant separation between Central Services and Work Hardening does not have to exceed the 1-hour rating of all interior partitions. Conference Room doors and doors between different tenants do not have to be rated. The Conference Room door egressing into Central Services waiting area is ok, and does not have to be rated as the Conference Room occupancy is far less than SO, 6, Distance between the two exit doors, from Work Hardening to the building corridor, is not optimal, but does not cause a problem given occupant load. 7, Summations: Lome and Dennis see no problems with the plan as reviewed, They expect the Contractor to submit proposed smoke detector layout for NFPA 27E approval. Lome agreed to provide L TW with information on fire detection system from previous tenant improvement drawings, cc: Linn West \l.:orne Pleger Dennis Shew Andrew Gil Project Architect
